Teacher's Benefits

Airfare – Return flights to your home country will be provided by your school. The majority of private schools pay for a teacher’s flights in advance, this way you don't have to fund the ticket price. Public schools, however reimburse the cost of a teacher’s flight after they have arrived.

The return flight can be purchased by the school or the teacher will given the cash equivalent of a flight to their home country. Any flight that is reimbursed or a cash equivalent given is based on economy class ticket to that country.

Medical Cover – 50% of your medical insurance will be paid by the school and the other half is paid by the teacher. This amounts to 2.385% of your monthly salary.

All employers under Korean law are required to provide their employees with this cover. This insurance will cover all hospital in-patient costs, subsidised out-patient fees as well as subsidised dental and GP visits.

Holidays – Private schools offer 10 days paid vacation in Korea. Generally the holidays are set by the school who give 5 days off around the Chinese New Year at the end of January/February and the other 5 days in summer around the Chu-sok holiday in September.

You will also receive the normal public holidays observed in Korea of which there are 12-14 depending on what day they fall during the year.

Accommodation – Your school will provide you with rent-free accommodation.
