How to apply for Just Teach Korea
(1) To apply you need to email us your CV, a recent photograph of yourself in any setting, and this application form. Once we have received your email we will contact you within five working days to discuss your application. If we like you, we will tell you to come to this page to begin your preparations for your E2 working visa.
(2) You now need to prepare as early as possible all the documents for your E2 working visa. We suggest you make 3 copies of all your documents. These are the documents you need for any teaching job in Korea, so we do stress that you start to prepare now as there is no other way to get an E2 visa for Korea.
There are a few easy documents you can start with like completing this health statement, the Consul's checklist and the actual visa application form. You can also use this helpful checklist to assist you in making sure you have everything you need.
The most urgent documents you should prepare are your police check with apostille and your three copies of your university degree transcipts. This is because you need to rely on others to be efficient and these need to be prepared in a certain way.
(3) Our partner organisation in South Korea will then contact you. They will work with you until you secure a placement. This will involve them arranging telephone interviews with different schools and language centres in Korea. Once there is mutual acceptance on your part and on the part of the Korean school/ language centre, they will send you a contract to read and sign.
(4) At this point you will have accepted your position in Korea and it will be time to send the necessary documents to the school in Korea (by air courier) who will take your documents to Korean Immigration for an E-2 visa issuance number.
For more information on the necessary documents please see here. It can take 4 - 6 weeks for a teacher to arrange all the necessary documents, which is why we advise teachers to prepare these as early as possible.
(5) Korean Immigration can take 2-3 weeks to process a teachers application form at which point, you will receive your Visa Issuance Number.
(6) You will then post (recorded delivery) or hand deliver your passport, visa application form (containing visa issuance number, the details of your school and director) and one passport photo to your nearest Korean embassy or consulate.
They will then arrange an appointment for you to pick up in person your visa and passport, it usually takes about 3-5 days and costs around $70 USD/ €50 EURO/ £35 GBP/ NZ$100. They will most likely at this point have a short interview with you and may ask for some of your documents (like one of your sealed degree transcripts) to make sure everything is legitimate. You may not need an interview, but if so, it will not be an intense scrutiny, so you shouldn’t worry about it.
(7) Once you have received notification from the Korean Embassy of when you will receive your visa, you should book your flight. Your flight will either be paid for upfront or reimbursed by the school when you arrive. It depends upon your placement.
